Volleyball Recap: Poca Falls Short Against Ranked Herbert Hoover

Poca faced Herbert Hoover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Dots fell 2-0 to the Huskies. The loss was the Dots' first of the season.

Sophia Bailey paced Poca's offense, picking up eight kills. Bailey got some help from Abby Barnett and her 14 assists. Finally, Bailey was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Herbert Hoover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylie Hackney led the charge by getting five digs and three aces. Hackney has been hot recently, having also posted 14 or more assists the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilli Lancaster, who had 12 assists and six digs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Poca fell to 18-1-2. As for Herbert Hoover, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 24-2-1.

Poca has already played their next contest, a 1-1 tie against John Marshall on the 27th. As for Herbert Hoover, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Wayne on the 27th.
