Basketball Recap: East Takes a Loss

East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-47 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kelly Walsh Trojans. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Leading Kelly Walsh to victory were Mason Eager and Logan Atnip. Eager went 7 of 15 en route to 19 points and five rebounds, while Atnip posted ten points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rhett Roden, who put up five points.

East now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Kelly Walsh, they moved to 1-5 with that win, which also ended their 13-game losing streak.

East will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Rock Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kelly Walsh, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 43-41 victory against Thunder Basin on the 10th.
