Basketball Recap: Lee Burgess Key Part of Team Effort in Warriors Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Veritas Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They snuck past the Mountain View Christian Academy Mustangs with a 69-63 win.

Veritas Christian Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lee Burgess, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 23 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Burgess is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Beckham Doyle, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaxon Spencer, who went 6-for-14 en route to 18 points. Dominic Hernandez was another key player, shooting 60% from the field to rack up 13 points.

Veritas Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Mountain View Christian Academy, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-4.
