Basketball Game Preview: Coleman Comets vs. St. Charles Bulldogs

Coleman hasn't had much luck against St. Charles recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Coleman Comets will welcome the St. Charles Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 54-24, which was the final score in Coleman's tilt against Calvary Baptist Academy on Monday. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, St. Charles' undefeated season came to an end after six games on Tuesday. They took a blow against Hemlock, falling 81-44. The loss put an end to the Bulldogs' undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, St. Charles saw an underclassman step up: freshman Abrielle Dinninger posted ten points and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dinninger has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Zelinko, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points and four steals.

Having lost for the first time this season, St. Charles fell to 6-1. As for Coleman, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Coleman ended up a good deal behind St. Charles in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, losing 51-32. Can Coleman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
