Recap: River Ridge Hawks vs. Capital Cougars

The River Ridge Hawks came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They rang in the new year with a 58-50 win over Capital. This was payback for River Ridge, who suffered a 73-49 loss the last time these two teams met.

River Ridge found their leader in underclassman Ethan Thomas, who scored 19 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Thomas scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryzen Nunez, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.

River Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Capital, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. River Ridge will take on Yelm at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Capital won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Tumwater at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. Tumwater is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57 points per game.
