Baseball Recap: Newsome Takes a Loss

Newsome and Venice squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Newsome had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolves have suffered since March 4th.

JP GLASSFORD was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Newsome dropped their record down to 21-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Venice, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 27-3.

While Newsome had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
