Football Recap: Comfort's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Comfort's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-43 win over the Thrall Tigers. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Bobcats/Deer considering their six-point performance the game before.

Gabriel Gonzalez had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 194 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Carter Pape also helped out as he racked up 159 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Comfort was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 540 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

With the victory, Comfort broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-3. As for Thrall, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Comfort and Thrall could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Bobcats/Deer (ranked 721st) will meet Lexington (ranked 304th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Thrall will take on Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (919 vs. 454).
