Basketball Recap: Tipton Starts Season with Win Against West Plains

Tipton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They came out on top against the West Plains Zizzers by a score of 68-60.

Tipton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Carvajal, who shot 56% from the field on her way to 30 points in addition to eight steals and seven rebounds. That's the most points Carvajal has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ava Schlotzhauer, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 11 boards.

Tipton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Tipton and West Plains will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Cardinals see the court they'll take on Varsity Opponent at 9:30 p.m. on December 5. As for West Plains, their break will end when they face Nixa at 6:45 p.m. on December 8.
