Basketball Game Preview: Crest Chargers vs. Kings Mountain Mountaineers

The Crest Chargers will venture away from home to face off against the Kings Mountain Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crest is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Crest is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against South Point on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Crest lost 57-31 to South Point. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 118th).

Abree Smith was Crest's leading scorer, having posted six points.

Meanwhile, Kings Mountain was beaten by Forestview 65-37 on Wednesday. The Mountaineers haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Kings Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Crest, their loss dropped their record down to 9-12.

Crest took their victory against Kings Mountain in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 66-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
