Recap: Northern Cass Jaguars vs. Richland Colts
The Northern Cass Jaguars had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against Richland by a score of 57-50. Given Northern Cass' advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Richland is ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Richland lost, one person who can't be blamed is Casyn Syvertsen. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Syvertsen has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Nick Wulfekuhle, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Northern Cass has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Richland, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northern Cass will take on Lisbon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Richland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wyndmere/Lidgerwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
