Basketball Game Preview: South Kitsap Wolves vs. Sumner Spartans

South Kitsap hasn't had much luck against Sumner recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The South Kitsap Wolves will challenge the Sumner Spartans at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, South Kitsap came up short against Curtis and fell 43-36.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sumner, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They strolled past Puyallup with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 59-40. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Vikings are ranked 171st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sumner pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.8 points. As for South Kitsap, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

South Kitsap took a serious blow against Sumner in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 59-20. Can South Kitsap avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
