Recap: Mountain Ridge Sentinels vs. Bingham Miners
On Thursday, the Mountain Ridge Sentinels faced the Bingham Miners in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mountain Ridge fell just short of Bingham by a score of 69-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, Mountain Ridge saw an underclassman step up: Jessica Maynard dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maynard has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kallee Olson, who scored 15 points.
Addy Horsley was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with three steals for Bingham. Horsley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lena Casperson, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Mountain Ridge's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5. As for Bingham, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
Mountain Ridge will head out on the road to take on Corner Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Corner Canyon will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Bingham will take on Herriman at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Herriman is ranked 33rd, while Bingham is ranked 13th).
