Volleyball Recap: Benton Takes a Loss

Benton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Centralia Orphans. The Rangers were not able to make up for their loss to the Orphans from their previous meeting back in August of 2022.

Benton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-14, 15-11.

Leading Centralia to victory were Emaleigh Davis and Audra Davis. Emaleigh had nine digs, while Audra had seven digs. That's the most digs Emaleigh has posted over her last seven matches.

Benton's defeat dropped their record down to 20-12. As for Centralia, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season.

Benton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Richland County on the 25th. As for Centralia, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Massac County on the 25th.
