Recap: Mayer Wildcats vs. Music Mountain Warriors
The Mayer Wildcats posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They breezed by Music Mountain at home to the tune of 61-34. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mayer also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Mayer's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Danni McCann, who scored 32 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which McCann has scored at least a third of Mayer's points. Another player making a difference was Taylor McCann, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Music Mountain saw an underclassman step up: Aliyania Matuck scored 18 points. That was a full 52.9% of Music Mountain's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of A'oda Chavez, who scored seven points.
The victory got Mayer back to even at 10-10-1. As for Music Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
Mayer will be playing at home against North Valley Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Music Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against Dishchii'bikoh at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
