Basketball Recap: Johnston Takes a Loss

Johnston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 77-54 to the East Greenwich Avengers. The Panthers were probably out for revenge after losing 50-47 to them when the teams met back in March of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

East Greenwich's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rees Maccarone, who posted 23 points. Maccarone's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Quinn Scaramella was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for East Greenwich, their record is now 2-5.

Johnston will challenge Shea at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Greenwich, they will venture away from home to square off against Pilgrim at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Pilgrim's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
