Volleyball Recap: Gilbert Falls to River Bluff

The Gilbert Indians came up short against The River Bluff Gators on Monday and fell 3-1. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Gilbert had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 19 points in every set they played. The final set scores came out to 25-23, 25-19, 23-25, 25-20.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Abigail Widmann, who had 14 digs and four aces. The team also got some help from Kaylie Spires, who had 11 digs and four aces.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead River Bluff to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lucy Johnson, who had 22 digs and six aces. Faith Jodie was another key player, getting seven digs and four aces.

Gilbert has now lost four of their last five games at home. That's still a better percentage than their 1-7 record this season. As for River Bluff, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4.

Coming up, Gilbert will welcome North Augusta at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for River Bluff, they will venture away from home to challenge Aiken at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
