Football Game Preview: Platte Canyon Huskies vs. Colorado Springs Christian Lions

Platte Canyon hasn't had much luck against Colorado Springs Christian recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Huskies will be playing at home against the Lions at 1:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Platte Canyon is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Ellicott two weeks ago (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Huskies lost 36-12 to the Thunderhawks.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 20-20 at halftime, Colorado Springs Christian was not quite Florence's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell 33-27 to the Huskies.

Platte Canyon will have to keep a close watch on Fisher Tenpas and Mikey Orawiec, a pair of players who had a big impact on Colorado Springs Christian's prior game. Tenpas threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns, while Orawiec picked up 95 receiving yards.

Platte Canyon's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Colorado Springs Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Platte Canyon was taken down by Colorado Springs Christian 60-6 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Huskies, Jace Velasquez (who rushed for 93 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
