Basketball Game Preview: South Fork Cubs vs. Ferndale Wildcats

South Fork is 0-10 against Ferndale since December of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The South Fork Cubs will venture away from home to take on the Ferndale Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.

South Fork is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were dealt a 77-22 loss at the hands of St. Bernard's. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 987th, while the Crusaders are ranked 102nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ferndale). They breezed by Hoopa Valley to the tune of 76-46 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Wildcats have posted since January 30, 2024.

South Fork better focus on containing Tinnley Pidgeon and Michaela Ellsmore as the pair were huge in Ferndale's win. Pidgeon posted 29 points, while Ellsmore put up 19 points. That's the most points Ellsmore has posted since back in December of 2023. Clara Albee was another key player, putting up six points.

South Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Ferndale, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 11-6.

South Fork was taken down by Ferndale 40-9 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can South Fork avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
