Basketball Game Preview: North Sanpete Hawks vs. Richfield Wildcats

North Sanpete is 0-10 against Richfield since January of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Hawks will challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

North Sanpete barely beat Millard the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hawks put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 61-36 victory on Tuesday. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 25 points or more this season.

North Sanpete's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mariah Schlappi led the charge by putting up 24 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Schlappi, who posted 16 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Richfield earned a 54-41 win over Carbon on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Dinos: they've now won five in a row.

North Sanpete better keep an eye on Lilly Crane. She was instrumental in Richfield's win, earning 19 points in addition to five boards and five steals. Those 19 points gave Crane a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kinlee Barney, who put up 13 points and seven rebounds.

Richfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carbon only racked up five.

North Sanpete's record now sits at 4-2. As for Richfield, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

North Sanpete couldn't quite get it done against Richfield in their previous meeting back in January as they fell 59-52. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
