Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Thompson Valley

Thompson Valley waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 73-69 W against the Mountain View Mountain Lions. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Mountain Lions back in January, they had to take a 63-57 defeat.

Thompson Valley had a senior duo take command as Daniel Morgan almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards and Rj Hale went 10-for-19 to rack up 24 points. The contest was Hale's eighth in a row with at least 15 points. Keenan Parks also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Thompson Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only racked up eight assists.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain View lost, don't look at Dylan Garland. Despite the final result, he went 10-for-21 on his way to 27 points and six steals. Garland has become a key player for Mountain View: the team is 7-3 when he posts at least three steals, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Mares-Benz, who went 5-for-10 en route to 11 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Thompson Valley's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Mountain View, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8.

Thompson Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 66-57 defeat against Timnath on the 10th. As for Mountain View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-47 loss against Roosevelt on the 11th.
