Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dr. Krop). Everything went their way against the Northwestern Bulls on Friday as Dr. Krop made off with a 20-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Lightning with their most commanding win of the season.
Lucas Rodriguez looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.
At the plate, Dr. Krop got a massive performance out of Randy Mercedes, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Mercedes is becoming a predictor of Dr. Krop's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 1-7 when he doesn't). Marco Loreto also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Dr. Krop kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.
