Volleyball Recap: Oakcrest Takes a Loss

Oakcrest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to Connelly School of the Holy Child. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chargers of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-18, 25-16.

Gigi Ruse paced Oakcrest's offense, picking up four kills. Ruse were helped by Sophie Searby and Maeve O'Beirne, who contributed three assists each. Alice McNiff controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Oakcrest's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Connelly School of the Holy Child, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-4.

Oakcrest and Connelly School of the Holy Child could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in their respective state rankings. The Chargers will take on Fredericksburg Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (332 vs. 19). Meanwhile, Connelly School of the Holy Child (ranked 80th) will meet Maret (ranked 16th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
