Baseball Recap: Avenal Takes a Loss

Avenal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss. They lost 15-3 to the Firebaugh Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 back in April.

Avenal saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marco Abundiz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Jeremiah Rubio also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Avenal's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Firebaugh, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-19.

Coming up, Avenal will head out on the road to take on Mendota at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Firebaugh, they will take on Fresno Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Firebaugh is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Fresno Christian a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck.
