Clearwater Central Catholic is 6-1 against Cardinal Mooney since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Marauders will be playing at home against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cardinal Mooney will be up against a hot Clearwater Central Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Marauders blew past Indian Rocks Christian, posting a 52-6 win. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Eagles are ranked 377th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Khayse Barrett, who threw for 265 yards and four touchdowns while completing 92.3% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (170.7). Another player making a difference was Davion Jackson, who picked up 45 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Mooney won against Berkeley Prep on September 12th with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Cougars claimed a resounding 49-14 victory over Bishop Verot. With the Cougars ahead 35-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Cardinal Mooney's win came from a few key players Clearwater Central Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Connail Jackson, who rushed for 118 yards and two scores on only 11 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Davin Davidson, who threw for 251 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
Cardinal Mooney was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Cardinal Mooney didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rymen Mosley and Brody Wyman. Another thorn in Bishop Verot's side was Bryce Fulda, who picked up three sacks and made eight total tackles (6.0 for loss).
Cardinal Mooney's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
Clearwater Central Catholic couldn't quite get it done against Cardinal Mooney when the teams last played back in November of 2020 as they fell 31-24. Thankfully for the Marauders, Tayven Clark (who rushed for 70 yards and four TDs) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
