Friendship Christian took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Davidson Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Commanders had just enough and edged out the Bears 3-2 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Commanders have posted since March 21st.

Sam Duckwiler looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Friendship Christian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Aquila, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Aquila has snagged this season.

Friendship Christian pushed their record up to 14-12-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Davidson Academy, they moved to 18-9 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Friendship Christian will welcome East Robertson at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Davidson Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Pope John Paul II at 6:00 p.m.
