The Walnut Mustangs will take on the Corona Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Walnut is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.

Walnut fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Segerstrom on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 9-7. The Mustangs' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Cynthia Phong was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Schilz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Corona had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Wolfpack.

Walnut's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Corona, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
