Resurrection Christian extends home winning streak to eight

Recap: Resurrection Christian Cougars vs. Colorado Academy Mustangs

The Resurrection Christian Cougars waltzed into their game on Monday with 11 straight wins but they left with 12. They had just enough and edged Colorado Academy out 45-43. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Resurrection Christian also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2020.

Olivia Klein was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds. Bethany Vrooman was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, Colorado Academy still got an impressive performance from Alex May, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. May hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games. Another player making a difference was Winnie Fenton, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Resurrection Christian pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Colorado Academy, their defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5.

Resurrection Christian and Valley will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Resurrection Christian is facing Valley at the right time seeing as Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Colorado Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Prospect Ridge Academy at 5:30 p.m. on February 13th. Prospect Ridge Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Colorado Academy is ranked 39th).
