Baseball Recap: Orchard Park Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

While Orchard Park's win against St. Mary wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Quakers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Lancers on Thursday. The Quakers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers, too.

Luke Staniszewski was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Staniszewski wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zachary Huber, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Orchard Park hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Mary's struck out nine times.

Orchard Park has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for St. Mary's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Looking ahead, Orchard Park will square off against Williamsville North at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Mary's, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Nichols at 4:30 p.m. The Vikings will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight.
