Basketball Recap: Nine Straight Home Wins for Chaney

There's no place like home for Chaney, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ursuline Fighting Irish on Friday, sneaking past 46-43. The 46-point effort marked the Cowboys' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chaney to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alyssa Brown, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 20 points. The contest was Brown's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandria Pete, who posted eight points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Chaney pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points per game. As for Ursuline, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

When Chaney and Ursuline next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Chaney will try to stop Washington's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Chaney is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season. Similarly, Ursuline will try to stop Lakeview's five-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
