Baseball Game Preview: FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers vs. St. John Paul II Panthers

FAMU DRS hasn't had much luck against St. John Paul II recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. FAMU DRS will head out on the road to square off against St. John Paul II at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Thursday, FAMU DRS got the win against Munroe by a conclusive 21-11. The win continues a trend for the Baby Rattlers in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when St. John Paul II duked it out with Godby on Friday. St. John Paul II was the clear victor by a 14-4 margin over Godby. The victory was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won three games in a row.

Mason Avant was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Levarius McClure II was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

St. John Paul II pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for FAMU DRS, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

FAMU DRS might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from St. John Paul II when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can FAMU DRS avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
