Riverside-Durham dropped their record down to 11-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the East Chapel Hill Wildcats by a score of 9-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-3 on April 14th.
Juleah Somers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered nine runs (all of which were unearned) on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Grayson Knotts and Paris Chavis did some serious damage despite the final result: Knotts went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Chavis went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
As for East Chapel Hill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games.
On East Chapel Hill's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: McKenna White gave up eight runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
