Basketball Recap: Lincoln Comes Up Short

If Lincoln was riding high fresh off their 52-27 takedown of Stover last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lincoln Cardinals fell just short of the Sacred Heart Gremlins by a score of 38-35 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cardinals have suffered since December 7, 2024.

Lincoln's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 14-3. As for Sacred Heart, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Lincoln and Sacred Heart should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Lincoln (ranked 131st) will meet Smithton (ranked 406th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Similarly, Sacred Heart will challenge Northwest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 283 places (206 vs. 489).
