Preview: St. Francis Flyers vs. Wynot Blue Devils

St. Francis has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against The Wynot Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Francis' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight games.

St. Francis put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 42-8 victory over Axtell. With St. Francis ahead 36-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.

St. Francis can attribute much of their success to Ethan Wieseler, who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, and Carson Wessel, who rushed for 88 yards and three touchdowns. Wessel hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games.

Meanwhile, Wynot put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Mullen at home to the tune of 50-20. Given Wynot's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Mullen is ranked 46th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wynot's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Schroeder led the charge by picking up 116 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Kasen Koch also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

St. Francis' victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 47.3 points per game. As for Wynot, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: St. Francis has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 212.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wynot struggles in that department as they've been averaging 149.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.

St. Francis came up short against Wynot in their previous meeting back in September, falling 14-6. Can St. Francis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
