Baseball Recap: Sebring Triumphs

Sebring barely beat Clewiston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Blue Streaks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 22-0 shutout on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Blue Streaks in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won nine in a row.

Jett DeWitt and Calvin Arjona made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, DeWitt pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Arjona pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, DeWitt went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI, while Arjona got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave DeWitt a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trey Holman, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Zach Huret was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Sebring always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clewiston only posted an OBP of .267.

The win got Sebring back to even at 1-1. As for Clewiston, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Sebring didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-0 victory against LaBelle on the 17th. As for Clewiston, they have also already played their next game, a 9-1 win against Immokalee on the 18th.
