Softball Recap: Nipomo Sets Scoring Season-High Against Santa Ynez

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nipomo). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Santa Ynez Pirates a 19-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Alyssa Van Muysen was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring five runs and stealing a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Sophie Quaresma was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with six RBI and two runs. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vivianne Goss, who scored a run while going 4-for-4.

Nipomo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .652. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Santa Ynez, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-6.
