League recap: Escalon extends undefeated streak to nine games

Trans Valley league recap: 5/29/12

Escalon (27-1, 12-0) is red-hot, having won nine straight games, the longest such streak in Trans Valley. Two of those wins came in the past week, including a 2-1 victory over Hilmar. Matthew Valencia's hot bat led the team this week, as he racked up three hits and two RBIs.

The Cougars currently lead the league with a 27-1 record overall and a 12-0 mark during league play. Ripon is in second place, four games behind with an 8-4 record in league play.

Escalon continues to give up the least hits to opposing lineups this season, after surrendering only two in the past week. For the entire year, the Cougars have given up only 117 base hits.

Matt Tyler threw a shutout as he led Dixon to victory over Hilmar, 7-1, on Tuesday. He struck out 13, allowing zero hits.
