Baseball Recap: Hampton County Comes Up Short

If Hampton County was feeling good fresh off their 21-7 takedown of Lake Marion last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hampton County fell 7-4 to the Barnwell Warhorses on Tuesday. The Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warhorses apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Hampton County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Runkle, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Hampton County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Barnwell, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Coming up, Barnwell will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Williston-Elko at 6:00 p.m. Hampton County will be paying especially close attention to Barnwell's game: after Barnwell faces off against Williston-Elko, they'll take on Hampton County again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
