Volleyball Game Preview: Kennedy Commanders vs. George Washington Patriots

Kennedy is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will look to defend their home court against the George Washington Patriots. George Washington took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Kennedy, who comes in off a win.

Kennedy took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Denver West, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Kennedy had just enough and edged out Denver West 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Commanders have posted since March 4, 2024.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (107-102) Kennedy actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The final score came out to 25-23, 16-25, 19-25, 27-25, 15-9.

Kennedy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kevin Nguyen, who had 13 digs and three assists.

Meanwhile, George Washington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Centaurus, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Patriots have suffered since March 4th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-13, 25-19.

George Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Kennedy, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
