Softball Game Preview: Bexley Lions vs. Reynoldsburg Raiders

Bexley is 0-3 against Reynoldsburg since April of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Raiders at 5:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Lions on Thursday. Bexley lost 12-2 to Lincoln.

Bexley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Davaney Prophet, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Prophet has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Newark Catholic hit Reynoldsburg with a six-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders came up short against the Green Wave, falling 11-1.

Bexley's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Reynoldsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 1-21.

Reynoldsburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bexley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Reynoldsburg, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Bexley's sizable advantage in that area, the Raiders will need to find a way to close that gap.

Bexley suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Reynoldsburg in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
