Rikelme Pinto-Herrera and Tucker Doriot made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Pinto-Herrera pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Doriot pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Pinto-Herrera scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Doriot went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Scottsburg got a massive performance out of Braden Cox, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. What's more, Cox posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Roberts, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
Scottsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Henryville came up short against Perry Central on Monday and fell 8-5.
Chase Byrd made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and five RBI. He also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dustin O'Bannon, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Scottsburg's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Henryville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Henryville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Scottsburg has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. It's a different story for Henryville, though, as they've only averaged .306. Will they be able to contain Scottsburg's hitters?
