Basketball Recap: Columbus Comes Up Short

After a string of three wins, Columbus's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Lincoln East Spartans by a score of 29-26. The Discoverers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Lincoln East's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sadie Mccleary led the charge by putting up nine points and five rebounds. What's more, Mccleary also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Neveah Coleman, who posted five points and six boards.

Columbus' loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Lincoln East, their record is now 7-15.

Columbus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 44-36 defeat against Seward on the 20th. As for Lincoln East, they have also already played their next game, a 58-39 loss against Omaha Westside on the 20th.
