Basketball Recap: Valley Vista Takes a Loss

After soaring to 66 points the game before, Valley Vista was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a blow against the Apollo Hawks, falling 57-25. The matchup marked the Monsoon's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Valley Vista lost, don't look at TyTy Bynum. Despite the final result, he posted seven points. Justin Rhodes was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Cristian Acevedo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Apollo, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Acevedo also racked up three blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Eliijah White, who put up eight points and four steals.

Valley Vista's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Apollo, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valley Vista will venture away from home to face off against Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mesa is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.5 points per game this season. As for Apollo, they will head out on the road to take on Sunnyslope at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Apollo also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 68.1 points per game.
