Basketball Game Preview: Legacy Christian Academy Lions vs. Valencia Vikings

The Legacy Christian Academy Lions will head out to square off against the Valencia Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Legacy Christian Academy has three straight victories, Valencia has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Legacy Christian Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Hillcrest Christian 82-35 on Saturday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Saints are ranked 452nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Josh Lowery, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 22 points in addition to eight assists and eight boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (four). JR Mosley was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 14 points and five assists.

Lowery wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Legacy Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Valencia ended up a good deal behind Golden Valley on Friday and lost 80-62.

Legacy Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Valencia, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Legacy Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Valencia in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 52-45. Does Legacy Christian Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Valencia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
