Soccer Game Preview: Del Mar vs. Overfelt

The Del Mar Dons will head out on the road to square off against the Overfelt Royals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Del Mar is headed into the game having not lost since the tenth and will look to keep things rolling. They had just enough and edged Prospect out 2-1 on Wednesday. Given the Dons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 285th, while the Panthers are ranked 714th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Luis Mendoza and Nico Collins scored both of Del Mar's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Meanwhile, Overfelt kept a clean sheet against Gunderson on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Grizzlies, sneaking past 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Royals were the better team in the second half.

Overfelt has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 3-3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those four contests. As for Del Mar, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1-5.
