Softball Recap: Olympia Takes a Loss

Olympia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 4-0 to the Pontiac Indians. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Olympia's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1. As for Pontiac, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.

Olympia and Pontiac should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 87th) will meet Riverton (ranked 525th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pontiac will square off against St. Joseph-Ogden at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (21 vs. 109). The Indians are on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), the Spartans a six-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
