Game recap: Charter Oak High School Football Team wins against Chaparral

COVINA, Calif. - Charter Oak (Covina, Calif.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 17 points, drop to 10 before the final whistle blew on a 24-14 victory over Chaparral (Temecula, Calif.).

After taking the lead on a Aaren Vaughns touchdown run in the first quarter, the Chargers led 10-0 at the half.

Charter Oak expanded its lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. CO scored two times in the third, including once on a Vaughns touchdown run.

With the win the Covina school extended its winning streak to eight games. The Chargers defeated the Spartans 38-14 last week.

Vaughns was the top performer for Charter Oak. The senior wide receiver ran for three touchdowns. He has now scored 29 touchdowns on the season.



Justin Harris made a difference for the Pumas. The senior running back ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to 18 on the year.

CO had given up an average of 10.2 points prior to the contest. The 14 points that Chaparral ended with were well below its average of 33.0 coming into the game.
