Softball Recap: Minico Spartans vs. Canyon Ridge Riverhawks
Minico barely beat Canyon Ridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans blew past the Riverhawks 15-3 on Thursday. The Spartans not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 12th (when they won 16-0).
Sammy Jasso made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Nye Salinas was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kabry Aragon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Minico always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive games.
Minico's win bumped their record up to 4-16. As for Canyon Ridge, their loss was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15.
Looking ahead, Minico will welcome Mountain Home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Spartans are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. Canyon Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
