Basketball Game Preview: Granville Blue Aces vs. Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets

The Granville Blue Aces will face off against the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Granville will be strutting in after a victory while Mt. Vernon will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Granville didn't have too much trouble with Newark Catholic as they won 62-44. Given the Blue Aces' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Green Wave are ranked 647th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 48-42 to Lakewood.

Granville has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Mt. Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Granville didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Mt. Vernon in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 49-44 win. Will Granville repeat their success, or does Mt. Vernon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
