Sierra Canyon and Mater Dei squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Sierra Canyon had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monarchs. The Trailblazers' defeat signaled the end of their 19-game winning streak.
McKenna McIntosh paced Sierra Canyon's offense, picking up 11 kills. McIntosh got some help from Lucky Fasavalu and her 31 assists.
Mater Dei can attribute much of their success to Sam Capinpin, who had 17 assists and five digs. With that strong performance, Capinpin is now averaging an impressive 12.1 assists per game. Jael Smith also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Sierra Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 41-4. As for Mater Dei, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 34-5 record this season.
Sierra Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mater Dei, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Rocklin on the 22nd.
