Basketball Recap: Loyola Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Loyola had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They escaped with a win on Thursday against the St. Francis Golden Knights by the margin of a single free throw, 59-58. For the Cubs, this counts as revenge for the 54-44 victory the Golden Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Loyola's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 17-10. As for St. Francis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-11.

Loyola will face off against Chaminade at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Loyola has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 172 points over their last three matchups. As for St. Francis, they will be playing at home against Harvard-Westlake at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Harvard-Westlake will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something St. Francis surely won't give up without a fight.
